OUR CURRICULUM
INTENT
Our curriculum is designed to nurture the whole child: academically, emotionally, socially and spiritually. Our intent is to provide a rich, engaging and therapeutic learning environment that fosters resilience, self-awareness and confidence while preparing children for success within and beyond the classroom.

Rooted in the values of authenticity, beauty and contribution, our curriculum emphasises personalised learning that meets each child where they are. We focus on building secure relationships and helping children understand and manage their emotions through tailored academic content and therapeutic support. Creative and hands-on approaches ensure learning is accessible, relevant and meaningful, helping children connect knowledge to real-world experiences.

By promoting creativity, problem-solving and collaboration, we encourage children to take pride in their contributions - whether to their learning, school community or wider society. Outdoor learning, artistic expression and social-emotional development are central to our approach, ensuring every child experiences the beauty of discovery and the satisfaction of growth.

Our ultimate aim is to equip children with the emotional regulation, social skills and academic knowledge they need to thrive in mainstream education and beyond, empowering them to fulfill their potential in a rapidly changing world.
'Before wisdom, comes wonder.'
IMPLEMENTATION
We define curriculum as the totality of a child’s experience at Storge Academy. Including not only what, but also how, each child learns. Based on our unique blend of cognitive science, neuroscience, psychology, clinical practice and embodiment, our curriculum delivery takes the very best parts of mainstream provision and carefully enhances it with expert, specialist and transformative practice. But we do this without over-complication.

Our curriculum is delivered through taught input by experts, independent and guided play, therapeutic intervention and exploration. Our children work alongside experts. We believe unapologetically that our children deserve the very best.
We use established schemes to support our core subject implementation. This includes RWI and White Rose Maths. This ensures that our support is complementary to the child’s partner school expectations.
‘Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.’

IMPACT
We know that our curriculum provision is successful when children make progress from their starting points. As well as developing knowledge and skills academically, this also means growth in emotional regulation, growth in character and confidence and growth in contributing positively to our community and the community beyond.
We capture our influence and impact through standardised assessments, stakeholder voice, observation and formative and summative assessment.
‘Blessed is the influence of one true, loving human soul on another.’
- George Eliot
OUR UNIVERSAL OFFER
Academic Learning
We follow the National Curriculum and work alongside partner schools to ensure that our children's academic learning is consistent.
Therapeutic Intervention
We offer a comprehensive and flexible therapeutic intervention programme to respond to each child's unique profile. This allows us to provide appropriate and timely support for wellbeing and emotional regulation.
Enhanced Specialisms
Whilst in our care, children receive a tailored package of specialist support. This includes working alongside educational psychologists, occupational therapists, clinical hypnotherapists and speech and language therapists.
Sensory Support
Sensory support and sensory integration is a key element of our provision. We ensure that each child has the opportunity to explore themselves and their connection with the world around them in a supported and accessible way that is responsive to their needs.
Play
Play is a vital part of a child's development and is important for their cognitive, physical, social and emotional wellbeing. We promote opportunities for play throughout our timetable to ensure that we don't miss the powerful positives that it can have on us. Children and grownups.
Enrichment
All children deserve the opportunity to nurture and develop their talents and explore new opportunities. Our strategic approach to enrichment ensures that we maximise connections within and beyond learning.
